Best electric skateboard 2024

Top 6 electric skateboards 2024

Electric skateboards (including electric longboards) are slowly becoming the next big thing in the personal transport market - and it’s no surprise!

Due to the number of cars on the roads these days and the growing concern for the environment, people are looking for alternative ways of getting around. As well as electric scooters and hoverboards, electric skateboards provide a fun and eco-friendly way of getting to work or moving around any urban area.

If you’re looking to dive into the electric skateboard world you’ve come to the right place. We’ll take you through our top 6 electric skateboards on the market in 2024.

SPOILER!
We couldn't separate the Skatebolt Breeze II from the Boosted Mini X, so they're both #1.

# 1

Skatebolt Breeze II

9.3/10

Skatebolt Breeze II on Amazon

Skatebolt is an electric skateboard company based in California, USA, started in 2016. The company’s goal is to create safe, convenient, and affordable electric skateboards. We agree with the first two points, but your wallet will definitely feel lighter after buying a Skatebolt board.

Though Skatebolt boards have premium prices, they are premium quality too, so don't feel cheated.

The Breeze II has a bamboo and glass fibre deck, making it sturdy yet flexible to offer some riding suspension. It measures 23 cm (9”) wide x 100 cm (39”) long, so it’s technically an electric longboard, and it can carry up to 116 kg (256 lb).

The dual 350 W hub motors are powerful (and replaceable if they wear out over time). They give the Breeze II an impressive max speed of 45 kph (28 mph) - one of the fastest we’ve seen! The board has 4 built-in speed modes so don’t worry if the top speed scares you. Activating modes 1-3 limits the speed.

Unlike other skateboards of its kind, the Breeze II is IP67 waterproof, which means it can be fully submerged in water and remain functional. So don’t worry about taking it out in wet weather.

Moving the board around when not in use is the minor downside to the Breeze II. It weighs 9 kg (20 lb), which is noticeable if you’re carrying it for a while. And it’s not a compact skateboard - it’s 100 cm (39”) long.

The 42 V lithium battery takes 2-3 hours to fully charge (fairly standard). And the board offers a maximum range of 24 km (15 miles) on a single charge.

Extras

As well as 4 speed modes, the Breeze II has 4 brake modes - soft to strong. And there are 2 built-in brake lights on the back of the board. Use the remote - with LCD screen - to brake. The board also has a slide-to-start feature, cruise control, and can tackle inclines up to 30 degrees.

  • Pros
  • Fast & good range
  • IP67 waterproof
  • 4 speed modes & 4 brake modes
  • Slide-to-start feature

Why do we like the Skatebolt Breeze II?

Skatebolt makes quality products that last, and the Breeze II seems to be no different. Highlights that stand out to us are the top speed and the board’s ability to be underwater while continuing to work. The 4 speed and brake modes also make the board great for both beginners and the more advanced riders.

# 1

Boosted Mini X

9.3/10

Boosted Mini X electric skateboard

Boosted Mini X on Amazon

Boosted USA is an up-and-coming brand in the electric transport market. Though its electric scooters and skateboards are pricey, they are well designed and use high-quality materials.

The Boosted Mini X is no exception to this. It’s what you’d expect from a normal skateboard in terms of size - the board is 28 cm (11”) x 75 cm (29.5”), width and length respectively. And it can hold a maximum weight of 110 kg (242 lb), which should suit most riders.

On top of this, it has a kicktail that allows you to make sharp 90-degree turns. As Boosted say, the Mini X is “where power meets agility”.

As an electric skateboard the Boosted Mini X is very impressive. It has a top speed of 32 kph (20 mph) - like the URBANPRO - and can travel up to 22.5 km (14 miles). These are impressive specs for such a small board!

It’s a board that’s great for getting around, running errands, or even going back and forth between school or work. It can climb up to 20% inclines, so is powerful enough to tackle hilled streets and small slopes.

Though the Mini X is compact, it isn’t the lightest board around. With a weight of 7.6 kg (16.8 lb), it can be tiring to carry around for too long.

The Boosted wireless remote is simple and comfortable in the hand. The acceleration and deceleration technology works well, providing a responsive, smooth ride.

It’s definitely not the cheapest electric skateboard on the market, but it is one of the better ones.

Extras?

The Mini X has 3 ride modes to suit all experience levels, from beginner to pro. Boosted offers a 24-month warranty on all boards.

  • Pros
  • Impressive max-speed and range
  • Can tackle 20% inclines
  • Fast charging (< 2 hours)

Why do we like the Boosted Mini X?

As electric skateboards go, it’s hard not to like this one. It goes faster and further than most boards. Yes, it does cost more than many other boards, but you’re paying for quality, durability and portability.

# 2

URBANPRO electric skateboard

9/10

URBANPRO electric skateboard

URBANPRO on Amazon

The URBANPRO is an impressive electric longboard. It’s great for commuting and generally moving around cities and urban areas. It provides a smooth ride and because of its wide deck, balancing on it is easy even for first-time riders.

For starters, it has 3 riding modes. So if you’re new to riding a skateboard or you are nervous about getting an electric one, it’s not a bad board to start with. But beware, in advanced mode it has a top speed of 32 kph (20 mph).

The URBANPRO’s 36 V battery is decent. It fully-charges in under 3 hours and is UL certified (meaning it’s safe).

The board is a quality product. The deck is made of 11 layers of maple and fibreglass, allowing for both flexibility and durability. Under normal conditions, you can expect this board to last you many years.

As it’s technically an electric longboard, it’s long (hence the name) and wide - 90 cm (35”) and 23 cm (9”), respectively. This gives the rider extra surface area on the board, improving stability. Once you’re comfortable on the board you can travel up to 16 km (10 miles) on a single battery cycle, and tackle up to 20-degree inclines. Combine this with a generous weight limit of 120 kg (265 lb) and you’ve got a solid and powerful electric skateboard.

Extras

URBANPRO believes in its product, so it offers a 12-month warranty and 24/7 customer support. The makers have also added LED lights to make riders more visible in dim light.

  • Pros
  • Fast top speed
  • Can carry heavier riders
  • Strong & flexible deck

Why do we like the URBANPRO?

It looks good, it’s fast, it appeals to beginners and skaters alike, it's made by a trustworthy company that cares about its customers - honestly, there isn’t much to dislike. If we’re really nitpicking we would say that it’s a bit on the heavy side - 7.7 kg (17 lb). It’s cumbersome to carry and generally move around when not in use.

# 3

Swagtron Swagskate NG3

8.5/10

Swagtron Swagskate NG3

Swagtron Swagskate NG3 on Amazon

Swagtron is a well-known brand in the electric personal transport industry that has impressed us with the Swagtron Pro T1 hoverboard. It seems the Swagskate NG3 is another very intriguing piece of tech.

Aimed primarily at kids, teens and young adults, this small electric board arguably falls into the Penny board family like the Voyager Neutrino - though it’s slightly longer and wider, 50 cm (20”) and 22.6 cm (8.9”) respectively.

The NG3 uses unique Kick-to-cruise technology. It maintains the speed that you create pushing off the ground with your foot - up to the top speed of 15 kph (9.3 mph). So it’s an electric skateboard with a twist - it’s push-assisted. No remote control needed.

It’s a great learning skateboard as it maintains the traditional skating technique of pushing off and breaking, but with the automatic aspect woven in. The battery will last for 7-10 km (4-6 miles), at which point you lose your electrical assistant but can still use the board as a regular skateboard.

The polypropylene deck is strong enough to carry riders up to 68 kg (150 lb) and flexible enough to provide support on bumpy surfaces. And for those un-rideable places, the board only weighs 3.6 kg (8 lb), so it’s comfortable to carry or even put in your backpack.

Unfortunately, the board can only climb 5-degree inclines, so it’s without a doubt a skateboard for primarily flat areas. As with a regular skateboard don’t expect to be riding up steep hills.

Extras

LED rear indicators make sure the rider can be seen. Swagtron has a very good customer support team to resolve any order issues - a call centre in the US, email and live chat through its website.

  • Pros
  • Kick-to-cruise technology
  • Portable, light-weight and compact
  • Easy to learn

Why do we like the Swagtron Swagskate NG3?

It’s travel friendly, light-weight and easy to ride. “Move more, kick less” is the NG3 slogan and it is exactly that. Its intuitive Kick-to-cruise technology makes learning to skate easy and is very fun to use. The NG3 offers the thrill of skating with the ease of cruising on an electric motor.

# 4

Teamgee H5

8/10

Teamgee H5 electric skateboard

Teamgee H5 on Amazon

Teamgee has been in the electric skateboard market for the past 4 years. The Teamgee H5 claims to be the thinnest electronic board available - and we can see why.

Because of its proportions, it’s technically an electric longboard. And by looking at it, you wouldn’t even know it was electric. The Teamgee H5 has a deck that’s 22 cm (8.5”) x 97 cm (38”) x 1.2 cm (0.5”), width x length x deck height, respectively. The deck is ultra-thin and made of Canadian maple and fibreglass, so it can bend, adding increased balance and rider support.

It weighs a mere 6.2 kg (13.7 lb), which we consider reasonably light for an electric longboard. It’s definitely not a problem to carry around on public transport or wherever you find yourself. This is thanks to the Teamgee H5’s thin, lightweight lithium battery, which fully charges in under 2 hours.

We were impressed with the board’s max speed of 35 kph (22 mph). While it's not as fast as the Skatebolt Breeze II, it is one of the fastest we've seen - this is a good thing as well as a warning, so take care! At that speed, you can travel up to 18 km (11 miles), which is less than we expected.

The Teamgee H5 has two powerful, 380 W motors that can carry a weight of 100 kg (220 lb). Much more weight than that and you either won’t go very fast or you’ll break the deck.

It's a durable, long-lasting skateboard. It's made of quality materials that won't need replacing under normal conditions. Though it is easy to replace the 9 cm (3.5”) wheels if need be.

Extras?

The board is IP54 water-resistant, so it’s splash-proof and is fine to ride in light rain. It can climb 20% inclines - fairly standard for an electric skateboard. And Teamgee offers a 90-day warranty on all its boards.

  • Pros
  • High top speed
  • Ultra-thin, lightweight battery
  • Streamline design
  • Easy to ride (wide, low, and concaved deck)

Why do we like the Teamgee H5?

It’s very easy to ride! The deck is wide, close to the ground, and slightly concave, so riding on the H5 is simple, even for beginners. The max speed is impressive too, and the remote keeps you updated on current speed and battery status - and even has a built-in flashlight.

# 5

Voyager Neutrino

7/10

Voyager Neutrino on Amazon

The Voyager Neutrino is great for getting around on a budget. It’s definitely the best compact, portable electric skateboard that we’ve seen in its price range. Generally known as a ‘Penny board’ due to its size, the board is very streamline. From looking at it you can’t even tell it’s electric.

Considering its price, the Voyager Neutrino performs very well. This 68.5 cm (27”) board has a top speed of 20 kph (12.5 mph) and can carry up to 80 kg (176 lb). What’s more, it only weighs 4.3 kg (9.5 lb), so it can be easily carried or even strapped to your backpack.

With a robust, sturdy design, the board can hold its own in rough weather and can handle a few hits or drops (though obviously this isn’t recommended by Voyager). It’s IP55 water-resistant, meaning it can be used in light rain and is splash-proof.

The Bluetooth remote is comfortable in the hand and does what you’d expect - controls the speed and displays the battery status.

We were disappointed to find out that the Voyager Neutrino can only travel 11 km (7 miles) on a single charge. Compared to other boards in its price range, this statistic doesn’t impress. But I suppose that this is the price you pay for a cheap, compact, powerful electric skateboard under 80 cm (30”) in length.

Extras

The Voyager Neutrino can climb 15-degree inclines - fairly standard for an electric skateboard. And it has 2 riding modes (beginner and expert), making it appropriate for the novice and the pro alike.

  • Pros
  • Compact, light and portable
  • Low price, good quality
  • IP55 water-resistant

Why do we like the Voyager Neutrino?

This light-weight electric Penny board is great for both adults and kids. In beginner mode the speed limit is restricted which helps keep younger riders safe. And an 80 kg (176 lb) weight capacity means lighter adults can enjoy it too.

Its budget price combined with its sleek, portable design makes it a purchase worth considering.
